The 51st District Court has two judges: Richard D. Kuhn, Jr. and Jodi Debbrecht and a full support staff including a Court Administrator and six Department Supervisors. Additionally, Magistrates assist the Judges on Mondays and Thursdays and with after hours search warrant requests. The Court is separated into four primary divisions including: Traffic: processes citations written by police departments. Civil: handles cases that involve money or damage claims and landlord/tenant disputes. Criminal: processes misdemeanor and felony criminal law violations. Probation: responsible for supervision of probationers, conducting pre-sentence investigations, alcohol assessments and probation violation hearings.
